THE 1-MINUTE RULE

What Jobs are in this Department?

  • Lead Actor / Series Regular - Brings their characters to life, delivering lines, actions, and emotions as directed by the director. Likely to have scenes with other actors, requiring them to establish a rapport and chemistry with their co-stars. Also may need to revisit specific scenes or moments multiple times during filming, requiring them to maintain consistency in their performance and appearance.

  • Supporting Actor - Play secondary, supporting roles in films, often below those of leading actors (principal cast). May appear in a large number of scenes, but their roles are not central to the story. Can be character actors, playing similar roles from film to film, or actors who also appear in leading roles in other films.

  • Recurring Role - A character who appears in multiple episodes, typically between two and several seasons, and is more intricately woven into the show’s plot-line than a guest star role.

  • Day Player - Hired for a single day or a short period to fill a specific role in a film or television production. Which means their schedule is flexible and may change frequently.

  • Background Actor - "Extras", populate the background of a scene to create a sense of authenticity and atmosphere. They may sit in a restaurant, walk down a street, or engage in various activities to make the setting feel more realistic.

  • Body Double / Stand-In - A professional substitute who stands in for an actor in specific scenes or situations, typically when the actor is unable or unwilling to perform certain actions. Body doubles are used to maintain continuity, ensure safety, and achieve specific visual effects.
